Manny Pacquiao Latest Update

Manny Pacquiao, most exciting boxer on the planet, writes a regular column at PhilBoxing and Abante to express his own thoughts and to be able to communicate to his fans worldwide.

Roach, the pound-for-pound king’s Los Angeles-based trainer, can’t seem to reach his fighter in the Philippines even though his next fight -– against Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas –- is only 10 weeks away.

Pacquiao may fight Hatton while Mayweather gets back into shape

Grand Rapids Press columnist David Mayo was in Las Vegas to witness Manny Pacquiao's destruction of Oscar De La Hoya and now talk has surfaced of Floyd Mayweather potentially coming out of retirement to fight Pacquaio.

Mayo tells Ryan Terpstra on WGHN-AM 1370 (Grand Haven) that Mayweather Jr. apparently wants his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., to train him for a fight against Pacquiao. Mayweather Sr. currently trains Ricky Hatton, who also could potentially be Pacquiao's next opponent.

"There is a possibility that Pacquiao goes and fights Hatton, because even if Floyd comes back in January and starts training, he couldn't be ready to fight until close to the middle of the year, at least May," Mayo said.

"It might suit Hatton and Pacquiao to go ahead and make that fight ... in Wembley Stadium, which is the idea, trying to draw this super mega-live crowd ... and the winner gets Floyd. With Pacquiao fighting in England, you run the risk of, if not an eliminated Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, certainly a devalued one, or Mayweather gets turned to Hatton instead ... so there's a number of things that could happen."

Listen to the full interview to hear Mayo talk about who he thinks would win between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. and the possibility of the Mayweathers (Roger, Floyd Sr. and Floyd Jr.) working together to prepare for that fight. From Malive
